ok so as you know Fashion can be found everywhere! not to sound too much like a cliche, but seriously I get my inspiration for creativity from all around me. Now, though I am and will always be obsessed with clothes, every now and then I buy a Domino or Elle Decor and attempt to learn about interior design. My friend Ashley on the other hand, who happens to be an interior designer for SBE, simply oozes creativity when it comes to how to turn an ordinary room with white walls into an amazingly chic haven. Case in point- her dinning room seen below. Kelly green is now my new favorite color, I have been wearing my new kelly green shift dress two days in a row.

New York … done.
London … done.
Milan … done.
Paris … done.
…. DUN DUN DUNNNN!
LA FASHION WEEK IS HERE! Although LA sadly ranks at the bottom of the list as far as this little week of fashion frolicking goes, we have high hopes this year. We here at Feature will be checking out a couple of shows to pluck those few perfect pieces from the runway and place them on our racks. Whitley Kros, a personal favorite, kicks off the week Sunday at 8pm in the Main Tent. Think bold prints, bright colors, and amazing lightweight knits. Next comes Crispin and Basilio on Tuesday. After their delightfully feminine chiffons and elegant gold details from their Fall / Holiday collection, we are excited to see what C & B has in store for Spring!
So next time your friend snickers while he/she tries to downplay LA Fashion Week, just remember, there are always a couple diamonds in the rough.

Hey Guys- Lisa here.
Today’s topic: New York Fashion Week
My take: Be Careful What You Wish For
Looks like someone rubbed the golden lamp one to many times this season in my opinion. As soon as the shows began it was like poof! Genie pants … all … over … the … runway. Not just a pair here or there, but everywhere. Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim, and some Feature’s favorites Vena Cava, Tsesay, Wayne, and Lerario Beatriz are just a few of the many designers sewing up the harem duds. Now, even though I’m kind of excited about the departure from skin tight jeans, and the fact that we are seeing designers experiment more with shapes that are loose and voluminous- I’m still kind of iffy about the whole magic carpet concept.
What do you think? Are we ready to bring back the trend? Was it re-created right?

OK I know, more from style.com?! You would think that’s the only fashion coverage we follow. But they keep putting out more news about Feature’s favorite designers! Check out the recent post on Dorothy Lee. This line is not only a good price point, as the article mentions, but the pieces are so wonderfully unique. This fall she took ordinary cardigans and jackets and mixed in different fabrics and textures to add that little something extra. Also look for her knit combo jacket in last months Lucky, and more items in LA magazine!
Designer update

“I think there are a lot of girls who want beautiful, well-made, detail-driven clothes, you know, girls who totally get it,” says L.A.-based designer Dorothy Lee. “But out of those, there’s a certain percentage that’s going to look at a price tag and go, no. I wanted to make a brand for those girls.” Figuring that there was a market to be serviced, the onetime statistics major launched her eponymous label for fall ‘07, putting her numbers fluency to use in the service of keeping costs low enough to make girlish frocks and separates that look a lot more expensive than they are. “Sometimes it’s about making smart fabric choices, and sometimes it’s just about figuring out how to tell a story with one significant detail,” explains Lee, who goes on to note that her design and business discipline combined have already allowed her to break even on her brand. How’s that for good stats?

So when Erickson Beamon Fall delivery arrived the other day, we opened the box and immediately wanted to play dress up! There’s just something about each piece that is so amazingly vintage and one of a kind. All the stones are semi-precious, and the metals are sterling and 24kt. I can be wearing jeans and a t-shirt and add the cluster ring for a quick lunch on 3rd, or even a black cotton dress and the Glenda Cuff high on my arm and I’m ready for dinner at Pace. Most of these pieces have been made custom for us, and they have been seen in Vogue a number of times.
Mad Hatter Bracelet $482
City Slicker Ring $342

Kaleidoscope eye Bracelet $529

Mind Trip Bracelet $482
Glenda Cuff $482

This just in from Style.com!
We are so excited for Mischen’s Fall collection! Should be in store by August.
Check back soon to see pics of all the new pieces!!!

Like many a dedicated thrifter, designer Carla Knapp has occasionally succumbed to dreams of the ultimate score: a trunkful of mint-condition vintage just waiting to be mixed and matched into the modern girl’s casually classy wardrobe. A fantasy, sure, but Knapp has done her best to literalize it for the fall 2008 collection for her label, Mischen. “I was thinking, what if a girl inherited all her Parisian grandmother’s fabulous clothes,” explains Knapp of the collection’s mix of hoary coats, origami-inspired blouses and skirts, and femme-y frocks in prints riffing on antique wallpaper. Though the odd pair of trousers makes an appearance in the line, the two-year-old Mischen is a far cry from the stuff Knapp was making at her last gig, as creative director of Paper Denim & Cloth. Currently pulling together the pieces she’ll be showing for her first-ever fashion presentation in September, Knapp is clear on one thing: “No jeans. Not now, not ever.” Grandma would approve.

Can not wait for Whitley Kros to arrive! First bit of Fall should be in store by August.
Check out the review on the Resort collection from style.com.

Though it’s most commonly associated with rear windows and peeping toms, prurience got the sunny-side up treatment at the tea party launch of Whitley Kros’ Resort collection in Los Angeles on Tuesday. “For us, each season is like this little update from Whitley,” explained co-designer Marissa Ribisi at the poolside fête. “You see what she’s been doing, what she’s into, but the girl herself is always just out of sight. All you get are sidelong glimpses.” As Ribisi and her fellow designer Sophia Coloma went on to explain, Kros has followed up Fall’s tour of the European capitals by blanketing down on Bondi with a few Jane Austen novels—hence the Resort collection’s preponderance of beachy prints and Empire waists. “Maybe it comes from my acting background,” Ribisi notes, “but I really like to design from the point of view of a character. I think everyone has that urge to step into someone else’s life for a minute, though. We’re about to launch our Web site, and that’s the basic idea—a tour of Whitley’s world.” Spy and buy, in other words, and in the meantime, pass the scones.

So ever since we received this shipment in last week, I have not been able to take off my red cashmere tunic. I swear I have probably worn it 3 days in a row, first as a dress with a slip under, once as a sweater with shorts, and then as a dress again. I have this policy that as long as the same person doesn’t see me in the same outfit I’ll can stay in it for days. These new pieces are so versatile too, can easily go from day to night. This silk rose print dress is great for attending a wedding or even with flats during the day.
